At the south end of Main Street in Foxton is a full-size working 17th century Dutch windmill. The windmill is also the local information centre. Open 7 days a week, admission to the ground floor is free and tours are also available. The shop has stoneground flours, souvenirs and imported Dutch foodstuffs.
Off The Loop has created the latest ‘must do’ attraction in the Lower North Island! They offer Cable Wakeboard and Waterski riding at their private lake on their 2 x two tower Topline Cable Systems. Based in Foxton, they have a variety of flat glassy water, ramps and rail slides at their double-laned, purpose built location nestled in the Horowhenua countryside. Something for the whole family and guaranteed to satisfy riders of all skill levels!
The local council has provided Foxton beach with a pump track facility that offers track circuits for all ages and abilities. This includes a track for children aged two to four years and loops for beginners, intermediate and advanced riders. The design allows people to progress from the easy loop to the more difficult ones as they develop their skills, and the asphalt surface accommodates skateboarders and scooters, as well as bikes.
Take some time to visit Foxton Beach, just 8km from the motel, for swimming, boating and fishing. Walk along the beach to where the Manawatu River meets the Tasman Sea. This estuary is a wetland area of international importance (with RAMSAR status) where many different bird species can be found, including godwits, wrybills and spoonbills.
